Dockery Dominates For Blue Ridge Outlaws Win At Lake View

For Immediate Release

LAKE VIEW, SC (September 21) – Gastonia, NC’s Brandon Dockery held back challenges from Matt Long and Timbo Mangum to record another Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Model win Saturday night at Lake View Motor Speedway.
Dockery grabbed the lead at the start of the race from the outside of row one followed closely by Long. The first 21 laps went caution-free until Dan Breuer appeared to lose an engine. The next caution flag waved four laps later when Kevin Godwin slowed to go into the pits, causing David Baker to check up and spin after contact from behind. On the restart, James Lindsay and Gerald Mintz spun entering turn one to bring out another yellow flag. Mangum slipped by Long for second on the next restart, but did not have enough to challenge Dockery for the win. Following Dockery and Mangum to the finish line were Long, Mark Greene, and Tony Ayers. Rounding out the top 10 were Scott Shirey, Steve Blackburn, Dalton Hodge, Daniel Tucker, and Raymond Brown.
Veteran Tom Lovett scored an emotional win in the Fred’s Tire & Auto Stock V8 win in the 4th Annual Jackson Winkler Memorial. Lovett split front row starters Scott Lewis and Rocky Gasque as they exited turn two to take the lead on the opening lap. The biggest wreck of the race occurred with five laps to go when Derek Kemper spun in turn two and clipped the left side of Gasque’s car as he spun back up the banking. Following Lovett to the finish line were Lewis, Chucky Nicholson, Chip Fenoff, and Chance Mincey.
Danny Hudson started on the pole position and led every lap to record the Carolina Outlaw Super Street win. The caution flag waved on lap eight for a spin by Stevie Jones in turn two. On the restart, Russell Boyd spun in turn one and collected Woody Newman. Following Hudson at the finish were Benji Thompson, Peyton Abbott, Chris Powers, and Johnny Moore.
Cameron Norris, IV continued his late-season dominance by winning his third straight Street Stock race. Polesitter Terry Caples led the field into turn one but spun in turn two to bring out the caution. This handed the lead to Austin Rodonis who was soon passed by Norris. With two laps to go, Brandon Grimsley spun in turn four and collected Josh Herring and Ryan Touchberry. Behind Norris at the checkered flag were Ron Pope, Blaise Bryant, Michael Butler, and Robbie Mooneyham.
Julio Cifuentes returned to victory lane after an absence of over a year by winning the Morrisonbuilt Performance SCDRA Sport Compact race. The race began with a scary incident that saw both Patrick Duchaine and Kyle Jenks launched over the turn one embankment. Both drivers were okay. Jason Brown led until he slowed with a flat right front tire on lap four. Will Keller would eventually take the lead, only to have a flat tire send him to the pits on lap eight. Cifuentes would cross the finish line first followed by Shannon Weaver, Russell Catoe, Derek Kemper, and Collin Brown.
Mike Bowman led flag-to-flag for his sixth Modified win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Kyle Whitney, Jeff Tiley, Dalton Cox, and Tim Clemons.
Joey Babson was the Bell & Bell Vintage Modified winner.
The next event at Lake View Motor Speedway will be next Saturday night, October 5th and will feature the Steel Block Bandit Late Models racing for $5,000 to win in the Larry long Memorial. Street Stocks will also be in action along with the Modifieds, Stock V8, and Sport Compacts.
