Nick Tucker Takes Carolina Sprint Tour Win At Lake View
• For Immediate Release
LAKE VIEW, SC (September 16) – Nick Tucker came out with the victory in a very competitive Carolina Sprint Tour race in Pop Hahn’s Open Wheel Madness Saturday night at Lake View Motor Speedway.
Pole sitter Jacob McLain led the field to the green flag, but was overtaken by Sean Vardell with a bold move to the outside in turn four to lead the opening lap. The two traded slide jobs back and forth for the lead before Vardell would spin exiting turn four on lap four. On the restart, Tucker was able to get the advantage over McLain to take the lead in turn three. As McLain tried to maintain pace with the leader, he would hit a rut in turn one sending him into a flip on lap 14. Tucker dominated from there to capture the win over George Loux, Ben McCall, Robert Tyler, and Johnny Petrozelle.
Outside pole sitter Daniel Parker got the jump on pole sitter Cameron Norris, IV and led flag-to-flag for the 602 Modified win. The only multi-car incident occurred on lap seven when Ricky Chavis spun in turn one and collected Greg Dull and Tyler Davis. Following Parker at the finish were Norris, Dustin Watkins, Dove, and Harris.
Despite leading every lap, Joey Wilkes never enjoyed more than a car length advantage as he ended a long winless streak with a victory in the NASCAR Street Stock feature. Wilkes was pestered for much of the race by Cameron Norris, IV and Terry Caples. But, Norris fell out with a mechanical issue while Caples had to pit after hitting the turn one inside guardrail while battling for the lead. Following Wilkes to the checkered flag were Austin Rodonis, Cameron Holloway, Chris Player, and Mike Coursey.
Tom Lovett passed Chucky Nicholson for the lead near the halfway mark and led the rest of the way for his first Fred’s Tire & Auto Stock V8 win of the season. The most recent winner Andrew Register had made his way to second, but spun on lap seven while battling with Nicholson. Behind Lovett at the finish were Nicholson, Jason Floyd, Rocky Gasque, and Register.
Jason Brown led flag-to-flag for his third straight win in the Morrisonbuilt Performance SCDRA Sport Compact division. Rounding out the top five were Will Keller, Collin Brown, Julio Cifuentes, and Chelsey Richardson.
In Bell & Bell Vintage Car action, Jeremy Cumbee was the Pro Modified winner, while Bladen Core won in Modified, Jackson Smith in Sportsman, and Chris Sirjane in Masters.
The next event at Lake View Motor Speedway will be Saturday night, September 30 and will feature the GM Performance 602 Late Models racing for $1500 to win. Joining them will be the 602 Modifieds, along with the NASCAR Street Stocks racing for $750 to win, Stock V8 racing for $1,000 to win, and Sport Compacts.
