Bailey Loftin Wins Lake View Street Stock Special

Lake View, SC (May 6) - Mt Holly, NC's Bailey Loftin made his first trip down to Lake View Motor Speedway count in winning Saturday night's Bryan Owens Memorial for the NASCAR Street Stocks. Loftin's victory was worth $3000 in the event that also honored the Jackson Winkler Foundation and was the first race counting towards the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Championship.

Loftin qualified on the pole position, but it was Cameron Norris, IV who jumped out to the early lead. After a spin by Chris Powers and Dalton Dabbs in turn two on lap nine, Loftin was in position to pressure Norris for the top spot. Just as Loftin was passing Norris for the lead on lap 11, Norris stopped in turn four with a mechanical issue. Loftin led the rest of the win to take the win over Terry Caples, Mike Coursey, Austin Rodonis, and Cameron Holloway.

The Stock V8 also had a special 22 lap event in memory of Gerald Best, a longtime car owner at the speedway. Blaise Bryant and Chip Fenoff waged battle throughout the race with Bryant taking his second career win at Lake View.
Fenoff started on the pole and quickly moved into the lead in front of a furious battle for second between Tom Lovett, Bryant, and Scott Lewis. Lovett held second and began applying pressure to Fenoff for the lead, but spun exiting turn four on lap five. From there Fenoff and Bryant put on a great race for the fans, with Bryant finally taking the lead with four laps to go. Bryant led the rest of the way to win over Fenoff, Derek Kemper, Chucky Nicholson and Lovett.

Jonathan Hucks led every lap for a dominating win in the 602 Open Wheel Modifieds win over Rocky Gasque, David Victoria and Tyler Davis.

Jason Brown led every lap to win the SCDRA Morrisonbuilt Performance Sport Compact race. Troy Hill was racing hard for the win, but slid into the turn three berm with two laps to go. Hill's car did a complete rollover and landed gently on all four wheels. Following Brown at the finish were Chelsea Richardson, Hill, and Julio Cifuentes.

Lake View Motor Speedway will be back in action again next Saturday night, May 13th as the Ultimate Super Late Models return to race for $5000 to win, along with the GM Performance 602 Late Models, Carolina Outlaw Super Street, and NASCAR Street Stocks. Fans can also win tickets to the Goodyear 400 for the NASCAR Cup Series at Darlington Raceway.
